Who says you can't wear crazy color combinations in the middle of winter? Not me, obviously. 

Hot pink and purple? Sure. 

Neon yellow and pumpkin orange? Sign me up. 

Throw them all in together? Why the hell not?

I picked this cloche hat up at Target while waiting what seemed an eternity to get new tires on my car; lucky for Pep Boys, Target was right down the street and I was easily distracted by their Neiman Marcus Collection and other newly arrived goodies. I realized I had yet to purchase gloves for this winter and of course if I'm buying gloves I should get a hat too, naturally.

I tried on several different styles (all while passive-aggressively fighting for the mirror with another woman trying on scarves) before deciding on this pink number. I figure it'll be a great pop of color for those dreary winter days and a fun item to simply play mixing and matching with other items in my closet.

I love colorful winter accessories, they're so unexpected in a sea of blacks, browns, and greys during the winter season. Do you have any colorful winter accessories you're obsessed with?

Hi friends! Hope everyone had a splendid weekend. Last night was my company's holiday party and as mentioned last week the theme for the night was velvet. Being crazy busy with finals I never really planned out my outfit, I just figured I'd grab one of my velvet pieces and throw something together. Well, here you have it! I had about 10 minutes to choose my outfit and get ready before running out the door and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with my results.

You can never go wrong with an all black ensemble  as it gives you opportunity to play with the details. For some reason I was shying away from the peplum trend, I didn't believe it would be flattering on me, but I took a chance with this top as I liked the sequin effect of the dots and the cut out back. Paired with my velvet short-shorts, I was holiday-themed appropriate, feminine, and still felt "so fashion", haha!

The accessories are definitely my favorite part to this holiday look. If you've been reading this blog for a while now, you'll know I always have to have some pop of color in my outfits. I've been rocking this turban all weekend, it just looks so boho and cool with the senegalese twists, and it's an unexpected accessory for a holiday party. I officially can't leave home without my Minkoff and the shoes are just another added element of fun and personality.

I should throw outfits together in 5 minutes or less more often, I'm always pleasantly surprised with what I can come up with under the pressure, haha!

1 Dress, 3 Ways For The Holidays: Thanksgiving

Hi everyone! Happy Black Friday! If you're anything like me you'll be enjoying the deals and steals of today from the comfort of your bed/couch. I've never been one to get up at the crack of dawn (especially after stuffing my face the night before) to head to the store for deals that I can easily find online...in my bed. If you do head out today, I wish you safe travels, you're a braver soul than me ;)

Before I get back to my online shopping rampage, I want to introduce you to a outfit challenge I decided to give myself for this holiday season that was inspired partly by Anthropologie's Fancy meets Functional photo spread and because I always love a good challenge. When the holidays roll around, do you find yourself constantly purchasing outfits for every party or family get-together? Because I do. Something cozy for Thanksgiving, something to make you stand-out for a holiday work party, something classic for Christmas, and god forbid if you don't have something shiny and new for New Year's.

 Well this year, that shiny, metallic, jacquard number you see above will be the only dress I'm wearing for the entire season. I'll style it three different ways (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) to show how a special occasion dress can be mixed and matched within your wardrobe.

Urban Outfitters Dress & Sweater / Audrey Brooke Riding Boots / H&M Knee High Wool Socks

 What I like most about this dress is how it can easily standout on it's own, but can also be dressed down enough for a more casual evening by simply adding a quirky sweater ( or a chunky cardi) and classic riding boots. Thanksgiving was a great night spent with family and friends gorging on amazing food, playing games and simply enjoying each other's company. I didn't feel too over dressed and was even comfortable enough to  run around with the kids.

I also made a Sweet Potato Bourbon pie that was pretty awesome and I'm more than likely eating the leftovers for breakfast as you're reading this. Just sayin' :)

Outfitted: Cropped

Hi everyone! Hope you all had splendid weekend :) I won't lie, I did a little retail therapy this weekend (I had cash burning a hole in my pocket that couldn't wait till Black Friday deals came along, haha!) and I noticed there's seems to be a wide variety of sweaters in stores this season. From cropped to over-sized, chunky to printed, I'm finding my closet filled with all sorts of styles to play with.

Typically I shy away from the more cropped styles, I mean if you think about it, does it really make sense to wear a "cropped" sweater? Who's idea was that? ;) But none-the-less, the bright cobalt blue number from Urban Outfitters caught my eye and I thought why not give it a go. I've found that it pairs great with some high-waisted skinny jeans or, as I'm wearing now, thrown over a mini dress with chunky booties and a beanie.

On a side note, I'm becoming obsessed with beanies! There's something cool, casual, and a little chic about them. And also, not gonna lie, they look pretty awesome on top of all this hair ;) Additional side note: apparently my new favorite thing to do in outfit pictures is throw up the peace sign.....so in the words of Chris Brown - "Deuces" ;)

Outfitted: Plaid + Stripes

Hi everyone! This is going to be a short and sweet Friday post, I wanted to quickly introduce you to the new me with long, past my belly-button hair! I have never had hair this long before in my life, it's definitely been a different experience and it's only been a couple of days, haha! My cats follow me around thinking I'm some new play toy and can someone please explain to me how one with this much hair is supposed to sleep at night? Haha! It's one big learning experience, but I do really like them and have already started playing with different styles :) Keep a look out for a post next week with more details about my new 'do!

Nothing really special about this outfit expect for this vintage blazer that I've been wearing non-stop. I randomly saw a girl trying it on in the store, instantly feel in love and was happy to see her pass on it. I've always liked the look of plaid blazers, it's "preppy-chic" or as DCT cleverly mentioned it's like an "old-school game show host", so whichever you perfer ;)

Outfitted :: Knits & Paisley

It's no secret that I love standout prints, especially on pants. This paisley pair has become on of my go-to's for a "casual, yet I still care" look. So comfortable they almost double as pajama pants (and may have once or twice ;]). With the 60's style paisley print they make a statement enough on their own, and paired with a neutral sweater and chunky heels -- I'm ready for any fall occasion! Not that I had anywhere to really be....sometimes I just like to get fancy :]

Hi everyone! I was doing a little online shopping this morning and came across this new site (new to me at least, haha) ShopRuche.com. It's a very sweet online indie boutique that has everything from dresses to bags,  home goods and even a bridal section. When I stumbled upon the site I was looking at shoes (surprise surprise!) and holy cow do they have an impressive shoe collection. 

As I scrolled through practically every other pair I saw I had to click on as I desperately wanted it, I can see myself easily throwing down for a couple of these beauties. The great thing is all their shoes are very reasonably priced, the problem only arises when you want 6 different pairs at once, haha! Hi there!
