Outfitted :: Pumped Up Kicks

Well, I did it. I succumbed to the wedge sneaker trend. I'd actually been shopping around for awhile and finally settled on a pair from TopShop (same style, different color), but just couldn't seem to make them work, something about them made them look like moon boots on my feet and I felt really awkward walking around in them, like everyone was staring at my moon boot feet.

In my determination to make them work I took them with me to Germany and wouldn't you know it, the last night I was there we were out and about and I came upon these leopard printed kicks. If you know me, you'll know I'm a big fan of leopard, cheetah or really any animal print. I also thought, the wedge sneaker isn't going to be my go-to, everyday shoe, so why not get a pair that's a little more fun and makes more of a statement (because moon boots aren't enough of a statement). And so I bought them and here they are today!

H&M peplum top (similar) / F21 skirt (also worn here) / Truth & Pride leather jacket (also worn here) / Random infinity scarf / Michael Kors bag / Young Spirit wedge sneakers (similar)

Even this pair I'm a little unsure of. It's just not a look I'm used to seeing myself in, at times I feel I'm trying too hard to be urban and hip. Normally with this kind of outfit I'd pair it with a tall boot or sassy flat, but life and this blog would be ultra-boring if I didn't try something different every once and awhile. I think they'll come out more during the Spring/Summer as I tend to like how they look more with dresses and skirts. We'll see, I guess!

What are your thoughts on the wedge sneaker trend? Yay or Nay?

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for reading!

Outfitted: Socks With Sandals

Once known as a universally acknowledged style diaster, socks-with-sandals has made a rather chic comeback. While it was a popular trend during spring/summer I never got around to trying it out for myself...until now.

Turban (cute knit version here) / Jessica Simpson Pea Coat / F21 Sweater (similar) / H&M Skinny Boyfriend Jeans / Dolce Vita Sandals / Vintage Coach

I'm still on the fence on how I feel about the look. When snapping these photos I was all about it and thought it was a super cute way to "winterize" summer sandals. Then after hours of editing and organizing the final pictures the novelty wore off and I started nitpicking every little detail and questioning my decisions. Should I have done a different color sock? Different style sandal? Are the socks too thick? Should I nix this post all together?

Obviously I decided to run the post as I was reminded this blog, and fashion/style in general, is a means of creative expression and you can't be creative without taking a few risks here and there. So whether you totes love it or it makes your eyes burn, it was a risk I'm glad I took and would even be willing to try again. Socks with Sandals...Reloaded, haha! ;)

I have a fun couple of weeks coming up, my Fall semester is coming to an end (yes!!), there are holiday parties galore, one of my besties is coming to visit, and........I'm off to Germany again for Christmas!

Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date on all this fun-ness ;)

Outfitted: Cropped

Sparkle & Fade Cropped Sweater (similar) / F21 Lace Mini Dress (similar) / Steve Madden Booties / Jessica Simpson Coat (super cute alternative)

Hi everyone! Hope you all had splendid weekend :) I won't lie, I did a little retail therapy this weekend (I had cash burning a hole in my pocket that couldn't wait till Black Friday deals came along, haha!) and I noticed there's seems to be a wide variety of sweaters in stores this season. From cropped to over-sized, chunky to printed, I'm finding my closet filled with all sorts of styles to play with.

Typically I shy away from the more cropped styles, I mean if you think about it, does it really make sense to wear a "cropped" sweater? Who's idea was that? ;) But none-the-less, the bright cobalt blue number from Urban Outfitters caught my eye and I thought why not give it a go. I've found that it pairs great with some high-waisted skinny jeans or, as I'm wearing now, thrown over a mini dress with chunky booties and a beanie.

On a side note, I'm becoming obsessed with beanies! There's something cool, casual, and a little chic about them. And also, not gonna lie, they look pretty awesome on top of all this hair ;) Additional side note: apparently my new favorite thing to do in outfit pictures is throw up the peace sign.....so in the words of Chris Brown - "Deuces" ;)

Outfitted: Turtleneck

Turtlenecks.

What I once used to look at in disdain has some how creeped its way into my fall wardrobe. Who knew that one day I would find a turtleneck quite charming and all around cozy-chic.

My unexpected love and desire for this knubby sweater really took me by surprise, and with visions of quintessential Jackie O., Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe dancing in my mind, the urge for more of this clever little sweater continues to grow.

What say you? Are turtlenecks back in a major way or still a thing of the past?

Thanks so much for reading!
