Outfitted :: The Home Stretch

Hi everyone! So I've been a little m.i.a. this week as I've been playing catch up with school and the things outside of posting that go on with a blog. But I have another round of outfits for you today and will be posting another bunch tomorrow as Sunday is Easter! Meaning the end of all this outfit challenge shenanigans! And then we can get back to our regularly syndicated broadcast on KATNP ;)

So here are outfits 21-24, I hope you enjoy!

Thrifted striped sweater (remixed here) / ASOS maxi dress (remixed here + here) / Charlotte Russe booties (remixed here + here) / ASOS boyfriend beanie / Express leather jacket / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Elizabeth & James Sunglasses

After what felt like weeks of indoor shots due to snow, wind, cold, hail, or all the above; I finally got back outside again! And to top it off, wearing a dress with no tights! Let me tell you it was a glorious feeling :)

Zara chambray top (remixed here + here) / H&M blazer (remixed here) / River Island faux leather pants (remixed here + here) / Old Navy animal print booties (remixed here + here + here + here) / Rebecca Minkoff bag

I really love the elements involved in this look. The chambray paired with a red blazer is very classic Americana, but throwing in faux leather pants and leopard booties gives it a rocker-chic edge. Also, though it's hard to see in the pictures, unbuttoning my shirt one more button than I would normally made me feel kind of naughty, haha! Not in a 'look-at-my-chest-world' kind of way but more of an understated sensuality, kind of like having a side-slit on a long dress or skirt. The occasional flash of extra skin is very alluring, you should try it some time :)

Pleione floral blouse (remixed here + here) / Timing polka dot blouse (remixed here + here) / Helmut Lang leather shorts (remixed here + here + here + here) / Forever 21 wedge booties (remixed here + here + here) / Michael Kors bag

Oh, and we're back inside again :( I had high hopes for this look, but it didn't work out as well as I thought it might. A mix of polka dots and florals, which definitely works, I just wish there was more of the polka dots showing than just at the top, but unfortunately the floral blouse hits lower than the polka dots (how many times can I say florals and polka dots in one paragraph?). Oh well, you win some and you lose some, right?

J.Crew neon sweater (remixed here) / H&M boyfriend jeans (remixed here + here + here + here) / Akira graphic cardi (remixed here + here) / BDG dalmatian print flats (remixed here + here + here) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Elizabeth & James Sunglasses

Last but certainly not least, I told you all you'd be seeing this neon sweater throughout the end of this challenge, haha! This is my 'running errands' uniform - slouchy sweater, slouchy boyfriend jeans, flats, too lazy to do anything to my hair so I tied a scarf around it and I was ready for some hardcore grocery shopping ;)

A lot of prepping is going on this weekend for my trip out to L.A. for Lucky Fabb next week! I've been a regular jetsetter these past few weeks, huh? Colorado, now L.A., where to next I wonder, haha! I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Thanks for reading!

Outfitted :: Happy Spring

Hi all! Spring is, technically-speaking, finally here! Though the sun is shining the temps have not decided to match what, from indoors, looks to be like a gorgeous day as it's still around 20 degrees here in Chicago.

But nonetheless with the coming of Spring means the coming of Easter which means the end of my outfit challenge! (oh yeah, you remember that thing? lol) I won't lie, I'm kinda over this challenge and I'm itching to go shopping and actually buy new things.

But alas there are still just over 10 more outfits to go. So let's get to it, shall we? (side note: I'm cutting the number of outfits from 40 to 30 as our week in Colorado totally threw me off since I basically wore ski gear or loungewear the entire time. Nothing outfit post worthy, haha!)

Peter Jensen Sweater (remixed here + here) / Free People Neon Blouse (remixed here, check out more blouses from Free People here) / H&M Boyfriend Jeans (remixed here + here + here) / Old Navy Animal Print Booties (remixed here + here + here) / Gifted Michael Kors Watch

Missoni for Target Zig Zag Blouse (remixed here) / River Island Faux Leather Pants (remixed here + here) / Forever 21 Magenta Booties (remixed here + here) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Random scarf purchased in Italy / Gifted Oversized Fedora + Michael Kors accessories

I find it funny as I was going through past posts looking for when I remixed each item that some of these I've only worn once before, yet I feel I've worn everything a million times over. Another sign that this challenge needs to end soon, lol ;]

Pleione Floral Blouse (remixed here) / Helmut Lang Leather Shorts (remixed here + here + here) / Thrifted Faux Fur Vest (remixed here) / Urban Outfitters Dalmatian Flats (remixed here) / Target Sweater Tights / Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody / Gifted Michael Kors accessories

Last but certainly not least, tomorrow (Thurs, March 21) is Cheeky Chicago's Annual Spring Fashion Show at the 900 Shops on Michigan Ave and while tickets are being sold for $25 I've got a special discount for you fashionable readers to purchase them for $15 off! Yayyy!

You can purchase tickets here and use code CHEEKYCBN at checkout to receive your discount. There is limited space so jump on them and I hope to see you there!

Outfitted :: I'm Ready For My Close-Up

Happy Friday everyone! I was a major slacker on outfit pictures this week, a combination of PMS and crazy snow storms kinda killed any desire to take pictures, let alone get dressed in anything remotely stylish.

However, yesterday I woke up to the sun shining and a new surge of energy that motivated me to do a little early morning photo shoot for all the outfits I'd worn this week. It was quite fun as I was blasting some indie dance hits and bouncing around the apartment much to DCT's amusement.

So here are outfits 14, 15, and 16 for your Friday viewing pleasure!

Missoni for Target blouse / H&M anorak (remixed here and here) / H&M boyfriend jeans (remixed here and here) / Forever 21 booties (remixed here) / Rebecca Minkoff 'Rumor'

Peter Jensen Sweater (remixed here) / Timing polka dot blouse (remixed here) / H&M skinnies / Bucco loafers (remixed here) / Rebecca Minkoff 'Rumor'

Urban Outfitters cropped sweater (remixed here and here) / H&M skirt (remixed here) / Charlotte Russe booties (remixed here) / J.Crew belt / Thrifted skull print scarf (also seen here) / Random bag purchased in Belgium

DCT and I are off to Colorado come Monday! It'll be nice to get out of the city for a few days and explore some place new, we've already planned a dedicated spa day - manis, pedis, couples massage, hot tub!

Who actually goes to a ski resort to ski? Not us. :)

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous weekend!

Outfitted :: Dress Over Pants + Back to Basics

(Welcome to part I of my shoe collection)

Happy Monday all! I'm afraid this post is going to be short and sweet, I simply wanted to show you a couple of outfits from the weekend. I tested out a new trend for one and went back to the basics for another (and by basics I mean wearing one print instead of a mash up, haha!).

Outfitted :: 30x40 Challenge, Day 1

Akira wrap jacket (similar) / Helmut Lang leather shorts (love this and this) / Target tights / Joie 'New Orleans' boot / Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Classic Q Baby Aidan' bag

Here we go! It's Day 1 of my 30x40 challenge and you may notice this cartoon-ish arrowhead print wrap jacket was not part of my original 30. I did a last minute switcheroo and decided to remix this number rather than my leather jacket. So no worries, I'm not cheating on my first day :)

I wanted to keep the first look pretty casual & simple, it was my day off and there's no need to throw all my best ideas out there at once. I have a feeling this wrap jacket will be making quite a few appearances throughout this challenge, it's quite versatile, as I'm sure you'll see. Also, it's a little hard to tell in the photos, but my tights are actually a deep shade of purple, I thought it added a little more depth to the blacks and neutral tones in the rest of the look. It's an unexpected color for tights, and I always love the addition of something unexpected.

I know I'm going to regret saying this approximately 5-10 days into this challenge, but it's slightly refreshing having only 30 items to chose from when getting ready. It can be really daunting having a closet jam packed with clothes, shoes, and various accessories and having to figure out what to do with all of them. So for now, having only 30 is a nice release. And now that I've officially jinxed myself, let's see how I'm feeling about 10 days in. ;)

Have a great Thursday, Happy Valentine's Day (almost forgot about that, whoops!), and thanks for reading!

Outfitted: Neon + A Cloche

Merona Wool Hat / Free People Neon Blouse (similar) / American Apparel Sweater / H&M Purple Corduroy Pants (similar) / Audrey Brooke Riding Boots / Jessica Simpson Coat / Rebecca Minkoff Bag

Who says you can't wear crazy color combinations in the middle of winter? Not me, obviously.
Hot pink and purple? Sure.
Neon yellow and pumpkin orange? Sign me up.
Throw them all in together? Why the hell not?

I picked this cloche hat up at Target while waiting what seemed an eternity to get new tires on my car; lucky for Pep Boys, Target was right down the street and I was easily distracted by their Neiman Marcus Collection and other newly arrived goodies. I realized I had yet to purchase gloves for this winter and of course if I'm buying gloves I should get a hat too, naturally.

I tried on several different styles (all while passive-aggressively fighting for the mirror with another woman trying on scarves) before deciding on this pink number. I figure it'll be a great pop of color for those dreary winter days and a fun item to simply play mixing and matching with other items in my closet.

I love colorful winter accessories, they're so unexpected in a sea of blacks, browns, and greys during the winter season. Do you have any colorful winter accessories you're obsessed with?

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Outfitted: Rumor Has It

Cooperative Scarf (similar) / Kenar Jacket / Loft Sweater (similar for 30% off!) / CO Dress (on sale!) / F21 Booties (similar) / Rebecca Minkoff bag (different colors!)

Hi there! I'd like to formally introduce you all to my new gal pal - Rumor. She's bright and sassy, and puts a smile on my face every time I take her out. :)

I'm of course talking about my new Rebecca Minkoff bag - Rumor. A Cyber Monday gift to myself, I watched it like a hawk all weekend long (as there were only two left!) and finally snagged it late Sunday night right before my head (literally) hit the pillow (shopping from my phone has become a slight addiction and has lead to several impulse purchases that I may be feeling a little buyers remorse from...I'm thinking of starting a support group, you're welcome to join). Thanks to free next day shipping (Zappos is so awesome!), I officially became a "Minkette" by Tuesday. I was a little worried it'd be too bright to carry around during the winter months, but then I thought 'since when did I care about wearing bright colors in the winter?' Never.

Speaking of winter, don't be fooled by how bundled up I look in this outfit. It was quite unnecessary as, even though it's December, it's been in the 50's-60's all weekend. All I have to say is - ummm, wtf Chicago? I mean I shouldn't complain....but I'm going to complain. This is the only time of year where I will embrace the cold and snow as it makes the holidays seem more idyllic. I'd much rather it be unseasonably warm after the New Year when I feel there's really no point to the snow and frigid winds. But I suppose, for now, I'll just fake it till we make it and keep bundling myself up. No matter how hot, sweaty, and ridiculously overdressed I look.

Thanks for reading! Happy December!
