Outfitted :: Nearing the End

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope your weekend is going swell so far. As promised here are another round of outfit pictures from the end of this 30x30 outfit challenge! Enjoy!

Pleione floral blouse (remixed here + here + here) / Vintage floral maxi (remixed here) / Forever 21 wedge booties (remixed here + here + here + here) / Rebecca Minkoff bag

Yet another neglected item in my 30 pieces - the floral maxi skirt. This skirt is very lightweight (and slightly see-through, eeep!) so it was hard to wear it during the weeks of gross winter weather, then I forgot about it as it sat in my dryer for another week. Laundry days always get the best of me ;)

Zara chambray top (remixed here + here + here) / H&M ballerina skirt (remixed here + here) / BDG dalmatian print flats (remixed here + here + here + here) / Jason Wu for Target bag

More bare legs! I told you all I refuse to put on tights anymore. This is such a great springtime outfit I didn't want to ruin it (yes, ruin) with tights. This skirt was also forgotten in my dryer as you can probably tell by some of the wrinkles I couldn't get out :)

Urban Outfitters crop top (remixed here + here + here) / Thrifted faux fur vest ( remixed here + here) / H&M skinny jeans (remixed here) / Steve Madden boots (remixed here + here) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag

I felt like a modern 70's bohemian a la Nicole Richie in this outfit. Crop top, high-waist denim, fur vest and just to embrace the look entirely I threw on my over-sized fedora, which I will admit was quite difficult to keep on my head with how thick and fluffy my curls have become.

Gap striped dress (remixed here + here + here) / H&M anorak (remixed here + here) / Bucco loafers (remixed here + here) / Etsy clutch

Last but not least, even more bare legs! Can you sense my excitement in these photos?

Any plans for Easter tomorrow? I unfortunately will be at work all day, but you know afterwards I am hitting all my favorite online stores and shopping like there's no tomorrow. Lent is finally over and I have cash to throw down :)

Thanks for reading!

Outfitted :: Happy Spring

Hi all! Spring is, technically-speaking, finally here! Though the sun is shining the temps have not decided to match what, from indoors, looks to be like a gorgeous day as it's still around 20 degrees here in Chicago.

But nonetheless with the coming of Spring means the coming of Easter which means the end of my outfit challenge! (oh yeah, you remember that thing? lol) I won't lie, I'm kinda over this challenge and I'm itching to go shopping and actually buy new things.

But alas there are still just over 10 more outfits to go. So let's get to it, shall we? (side note: I'm cutting the number of outfits from 40 to 30 as our week in Colorado totally threw me off since I basically wore ski gear or loungewear the entire time. Nothing outfit post worthy, haha!)

Peter Jensen Sweater (remixed here + here) / Free People Neon Blouse (remixed here, check out more blouses from Free People here) / H&M Boyfriend Jeans (remixed here + here + here) / Old Navy Animal Print Booties (remixed here + here + here) / Gifted Michael Kors Watch

Missoni for Target Zig Zag Blouse (remixed here) / River Island Faux Leather Pants (remixed here + here) / Forever 21 Magenta Booties (remixed here + here) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Random scarf purchased in Italy / Gifted Oversized Fedora + Michael Kors accessories

I find it funny as I was going through past posts looking for when I remixed each item that some of these I've only worn once before, yet I feel I've worn everything a million times over. Another sign that this challenge needs to end soon, lol ;]

Pleione Floral Blouse (remixed here) / Helmut Lang Leather Shorts (remixed here + here + here) / Thrifted Faux Fur Vest (remixed here) / Urban Outfitters Dalmatian Flats (remixed here) / Target Sweater Tights / Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody / Gifted Michael Kors accessories

Last but certainly not least, tomorrow (Thurs, March 21) is Cheeky Chicago's Annual Spring Fashion Show at the 900 Shops on Michigan Ave and while tickets are being sold for $25 I've got a special discount for you fashionable readers to purchase them for $15 off! Yayyy!

You can purchase tickets here and use code CHEEKYCBN at checkout to receive your discount. There is limited space so jump on them and I hope to see you there!

Outfitted :: I'm Ready For My Close-Up

Happy Friday everyone! I was a major slacker on outfit pictures this week, a combination of PMS and crazy snow storms kinda killed any desire to take pictures, let alone get dressed in anything remotely stylish.

However, yesterday I woke up to the sun shining and a new surge of energy that motivated me to do a little early morning photo shoot for all the outfits I'd worn this week. It was quite fun as I was blasting some indie dance hits and bouncing around the apartment much to DCT's amusement.

So here are outfits 14, 15, and 16 for your Friday viewing pleasure!

Missoni for Target blouse / H&M anorak (remixed here and here) / H&M boyfriend jeans (remixed here and here) / Forever 21 booties (remixed here) / Rebecca Minkoff 'Rumor'

Peter Jensen Sweater (remixed here) / Timing polka dot blouse (remixed here) / H&M skinnies / Bucco loafers (remixed here) / Rebecca Minkoff 'Rumor'

Urban Outfitters cropped sweater (remixed here and here) / H&M skirt (remixed here) / Charlotte Russe booties (remixed here) / J.Crew belt / Thrifted skull print scarf (also seen here) / Random bag purchased in Belgium

DCT and I are off to Colorado come Monday! It'll be nice to get out of the city for a few days and explore some place new, we've already planned a dedicated spa day - manis, pedis, couples massage, hot tub!

Who actually goes to a ski resort to ski? Not us. :)

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous weekend!

Outfitted :: Winterize Your Maxi

Happy Friday and Happy March! This is considered the best month out of the year for my family as my mom, my dad, and I all celebrate our birthdays this month! In fact today is my father's birthday (as well as, I just discovered, Justin Bieber :) My dad is going to loooove that! haha!) So here's to growing another year wiser and finer ;)

As you see above I rounded up my first 10 outfits, while the pictures show a bit of variety, I feel as if I've created a VIP section within my 30 items. Pieces I automatically go to because I'm comfortable with styling them (I'm looking at you chambray shirt ;( ), so for the next 10 days we're going to try and give some of the other items more play time starting with outfit 11!

Outfitted :: Animation, Animals, & Motifs

It was really hard to get going yesterday. I've been slacking hard-core with my outfits these past couple days. I tell myself I'm "taking a break" and end up wearing my pjs/sweatpants all day, and after doing so for a couple days it's hard to motivate myself to look presentable.

So full disclosure on this outfit: I barely took a shower (read: just washed my face, water only, cold water...) and struggled super hard coming up with this look. This is actually very similar to an outfit you've seen here, with slightly different elements. But that is how unmotivated to get dressed I was feeling, my ability to think creatively was nonexistent. I blame the snow for my laziness.

However feelings of cabin fever outweighed my desire to be lazy, so I convinced DCT to take me out to lunch and, unbeknownst to him, take outfit pictures for me.

Outfitted :: Sweet or Swag

Hi all! Introducing outfits 5 and 6, where I coincidentally show you two ways to wear a classic chambray top. One is sweet and one is full of swag, I'll let you decide which is which...

*Details: Zara Chambray top (old, looking to invest in a new one like this from Madewell ) / Gap dress (similar, also loving this and this) / H&M knee-high socks / Steve Madden 'Gretell' boot / Vintage Coach / Random scarf / Michael Kors watch, rings (on sale!), & bangle

Outfitted :: Borrowed From The Boys

One of the perks of DCT and I living together is the easy access to his closet, he can be quite the little style maven (with a little help from your's truly) and with the abundance of sharp button-downs and snappy blazers it shouldn't be surprising how often I actually steal borrow from his closet.

I went a little old school with this menswear-inspired 'fit, a waistcoat layered under a blazer and loose fitting tie makes me feel a little 'Mad Men'. I love the effect the layers create for an overall 'put-together, yet undone' look. It was DCT approved and he even made note to try this look himself (minus the sassy clutch and heels).

H&M blazer (similar Ark & Co blazer) / Borrowed waistcoat / Anthropologie button-up / Borrowed tie / Theory pants (similar ASOS high waist pants) / Mia Newberry pump (different color) / Patterned clutch purchased from Etsy / Michael Kors watch + bangle

Style Tip: When wearing menswear as womenswear keep it simple if it's your first time testing it out. A tailored blouse paired with an oversized blazer and brogues is an easy, everyday look that has masculine touches but isn't overtly menswear. It's all about finding that balance between feminine and masculine, so pile on the jewelry, add a red lip, or grab a fun clutch. As you get more comfortable with the look then start playing around with more male accessories such as ties, waistcoats, fedoras, and even suspenders!

I have to tell you, I just about froze to death taking these pictures, silly me did not check to see how cold it was supposed to be that day (14 degrees), and though you thankfully can't see in these photos my eyes and nose were running like crazy, a couple walking their dog went by and I think struggled with asking me if I was mentally ok (I wasn't), and by the end (which I think I only lasted 10min, if that) I had the shivers and couldn't feel my hands. It's a hard life for us bloggers in the winter.

It's going to be a cold couple of days here in Chicago (our predicted high is 12 degrees, but it'll feel more like -5 degrees), don't worry about me though, I plan to be buried under piles of blankets and my mind will be on a beach in the South of France. Have a great Monday, stay warm Chicagoans, and thanks for reading!

Outfitted: Blanket Cardigan

Freeway Blanket Cardigan (similar ASOS Fringe Detailed Blanket Cardigan or in Vintage Pattern) / Lazerade by Veda Velvet Shorts (similar TopShop Velvet Shorts) / Target Tights / Etienne Aigner Thrifted Boots / Gifted Scarf / Marc by Marc Jacobs Bag

Why hello there Monday, and hello to the freezing temperatures, I think the real Chicago winter has finally landed. DCT and I went out last night for pizza, beer, and some Golden Globes watching (side note: I didn't realize how many good movies came out this year, so glad both Argo & Les Miserables won in their respective categories, both of them were sooooo good!). When we left I seriously contemplated hailing a cab to drive us the one block to our apartment, fortunately (or unfortunately) DCT was able to talk me down off that cliff though I still feel the icy, burning cold in my legs.

Winter layering has become a big thing for me and my closet lately, this look is actually a little parred down compared to what I have been layering. But through it all, this blanket cardigan has been an essential. Thin enough you can pile sweaters underneath or jackets overtop, yet thick enough to wear on it's own, it's a great balance that makes it much more versatile than expected. And I mean, it has the word 'blanket' in it's name, just thinking about it makes me feel warm and cozy ;)

I'm also in love with this color palette - warms reds, oranges, and browns paired with cool blues, greys, and greens are my favorite for the winter. It beats wearing black all the time and is still totally cold weather appropriate (though we all know I'll still rock a summery pink in the dead of winter, haha!).

Stay warm out there! Thanks for reading!
