Outfitted :: The Home Stretch

Hi everyone! So I've been a little m.i.a. this week as I've been playing catch up with school and the things outside of posting that go on with a blog. But I have another round of outfits for you today and will be posting another bunch tomorrow as Sunday is Easter! Meaning the end of all this outfit challenge shenanigans! And then we can get back to our regularly syndicated broadcast on KATNP ;)

So here are outfits 21-24, I hope you enjoy!

Thrifted striped sweater (remixed here) / ASOS maxi dress (remixed here + here) / Charlotte Russe booties (remixed here + here) / ASOS boyfriend beanie / Express leather jacket / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Elizabeth & James Sunglasses

After what felt like weeks of indoor shots due to snow, wind, cold, hail, or all the above; I finally got back outside again! And to top it off, wearing a dress with no tights! Let me tell you it was a glorious feeling :)

Zara chambray top (remixed here + here) / H&M blazer (remixed here) / River Island faux leather pants (remixed here + here) / Old Navy animal print booties (remixed here + here + here + here) / Rebecca Minkoff bag

I really love the elements involved in this look. The chambray paired with a red blazer is very classic Americana, but throwing in faux leather pants and leopard booties gives it a rocker-chic edge. Also, though it's hard to see in the pictures, unbuttoning my shirt one more button than I would normally made me feel kind of naughty, haha! Not in a 'look-at-my-chest-world' kind of way but more of an understated sensuality, kind of like having a side-slit on a long dress or skirt. The occasional flash of extra skin is very alluring, you should try it some time :)

Pleione floral blouse (remixed here + here) / Timing polka dot blouse (remixed here + here) / Helmut Lang leather shorts (remixed here + here + here + here) / Forever 21 wedge booties (remixed here + here + here) / Michael Kors bag

Oh, and we're back inside again :( I had high hopes for this look, but it didn't work out as well as I thought it might. A mix of polka dots and florals, which definitely works, I just wish there was more of the polka dots showing than just at the top, but unfortunately the floral blouse hits lower than the polka dots (how many times can I say florals and polka dots in one paragraph?). Oh well, you win some and you lose some, right?

J.Crew neon sweater (remixed here) / H&M boyfriend jeans (remixed here + here + here + here) / Akira graphic cardi (remixed here + here) / BDG dalmatian print flats (remixed here + here + here) / Marc by Marc Jacobs bag / Elizabeth & James Sunglasses

Last but certainly not least, I told you all you'd be seeing this neon sweater throughout the end of this challenge, haha! This is my 'running errands' uniform - slouchy sweater, slouchy boyfriend jeans, flats, too lazy to do anything to my hair so I tied a scarf around it and I was ready for some hardcore grocery shopping ;)

A lot of prepping is going on this weekend for my trip out to L.A. for Lucky Fabb next week! I've been a regular jetsetter these past few weeks, huh? Colorado, now L.A., where to next I wonder, haha! I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Outfitted :: A Forgotten Sweater

J.Crew Sweater (similar, also obsessed with this) / ASOS Maxi Dress (remixed here) / Joie Boots (remixed here + here + here) / Thrifted Scarf

It's outfit 20! Only 10 more to go can you believe it! I want to give a big thank you to everyone who's been so supportive and encouraging throughout this process, you've truly kept me motivated and willing to push a little harder throughout this challenge :)

Here's a surprise, throughout this whole experience I haven't worn this sweater once and I love this sweater! It's chunky, over-sized, and in a bright pink - what's not to like about it? I can't believe it was so neglected for the majority of this challenge. So with that said get ready to see it in at least 5 out of my last 10 outfits ;)

In other news, I'm officially banning tights from my wardrobe. I'm ready to bare my legs to the world and in my mind if I start dressing as if it were warm out then maybe I'll convince Mother Nature to make it warm. If it's still cold where you are I suggest taking the same stance, nothing like some good ol' peer pressure to change the weather patterns ;)

Any fun plans for the weekend? Mine is going to be full of work and midterms with a little break for a Second City show with a group of pals. Whatever your plans are I hope it's a great time!

Outfitted :: Be Mine, Valentine

Timing Dot blouse (similar from the Kardashian Kollection) / H&M skirt as dress (old) / Old Navy leopard booties

Happy (Belated) Valentine's Day! I hope your day was spent surrounded by people you love whether that be a significant other, mother, father, siblings, or friends. I personally have never looked at Valentine's Day as being a strictly romantic holiday, it's about spreading all sorts of love.

Of course, it being a holiday, I always jump at the opportunity to show my holiday cheer through what I wear and though I wasn't screaming Valentine's Day as much as last year, I like to think I gave it a little wink with a blouse covered in the palest of pink dots, a flirty dress (that is actually a skirt), a touch of leopard (because, why not?), and rose colored lips. I think I was rather full of the Valentine's Day spirit :)

Other than that, my Valentine's was pretty low-key, DCT and I have been so busy and are currently working different schedules that we didn't even plan to do anything, it was just your average day at the A & D household, we splurged a little on Thai delivery and snuggled up for a late-night movie thanks to Red Box and our home theater. Sweatpants and slippers were in attendance, it was the perfect way to end the most romantic day of the year.

And on that note, Happy freakin' Friday! Thanks for reading!

Outfitted: Neon + A Cloche

Merona Wool Hat / Free People Neon Blouse (similar) / American Apparel Sweater / H&M Purple Corduroy Pants (similar) / Audrey Brooke Riding Boots / Jessica Simpson Coat / Rebecca Minkoff Bag

Who says you can't wear crazy color combinations in the middle of winter? Not me, obviously.
Hot pink and purple? Sure.
Neon yellow and pumpkin orange? Sign me up.
Throw them all in together? Why the hell not?

I picked this cloche hat up at Target while waiting what seemed an eternity to get new tires on my car; lucky for Pep Boys, Target was right down the street and I was easily distracted by their Neiman Marcus Collection and other newly arrived goodies. I realized I had yet to purchase gloves for this winter and of course if I'm buying gloves I should get a hat too, naturally.

I tried on several different styles (all while passive-aggressively fighting for the mirror with another woman trying on scarves) before deciding on this pink number. I figure it'll be a great pop of color for those dreary winter days and a fun item to simply play mixing and matching with other items in my closet.

I love colorful winter accessories, they're so unexpected in a sea of blacks, browns, and greys during the winter season. Do you have any colorful winter accessories you're obsessed with?

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Outfitted: Leopard + Faux Fur

Hi everyone! How many of you build your outfits from the ground up? Whenever I'm planning a specific outfit I always start with my shoes, to me they're the defining element for any look. Having a lazy weekend? Sassy flats or loafers will see me through. A day around town? Breaking out those comfy booties or riding boots. After dark? A dashing pair of heels that show my wild side, and these leopard wedges do just the trick ;)

Not only do they make me (and sometimes others, haha!) want to say 'me-ow!', but they are also surprisingly comfortable, which is a huge plus in my book!

I really love dressing for a night out during the cooler months. There's more opportunity for layers and stylistic elements that just aren't possible during the summer due to the possibility of overheating. After dark outfits during the fall/winter are my favorite as they're a little darker and sophisticated, with just a touch of edginess.

Author's Edit: I'm a naughty little blogger and failed to mention what actually inspired this post, besides the urge to prowl the city after sunset ;) Stuart Weitzman just released a brand film featuring a series of four vignettes that were directed by James Franco, featuring Petra Nemcova and, of course, starring some Stuart Weiztman foot candy ;) You can check out the full video, Walking After Midnight, below. It may come as no surprise but my favorite shoe Nemcova walks in are the scarlet leopard booties (which you can actually find here). Can you imagine hitting the town in those beauties?

Do you have any go-to shoes for your after dark looks?

Thanks for reading!
