Outfitted: Prints & Dots

Hi everyone! I was a mixing prints fanatic for this outfit! Florals and polka dots and African-inspired prints, they're all quite different, but somehow manage to work together. I'm so happy that the warmer weather seems to be here to stay, summertime Chi is the best! I have so many little adventures planned, I can't wait to share them with you all!

Also, in case you missed it, KATNP was featured a couple of times this past week! I had a chat with Nika from Black Fashion Bloggers as well as had this post featured in IFB's Links a la Mode! If you haven't yet, go check them out ;)

Cheers to the weekend!

::Outfit:: Dress - Rachel Rachel Roy / Chambray - Zara / Crochet Oxfords - Wanted / Bag - Random store / Accessories - Michael Michael Kors watch & rings, random bangles, sunnies via Crossroads

Hi everyone! Did you miss me? Haha ;) I'm almost in the clear with school, Saturday is officially the last day and I have one more project to finish up then it is totally summer party mode!

In addition to that, DCT and I finally found an apartment which we're super excited about, it's in a new neighborhood, it'll literally take me two minutes to walk to work, and it's close to great friends :) I'm super pumped! We even get to move in early, which is great as we get to bypass all the June 1st move-in madness, but that also means we have to get our stuff together ASAP, which should be fun seeing as we both have a lot of stuff (me probably more so than DCT...).

But on to other things, such as this outfit! If you've been following my blog for some time now you'll know I'm not one to shy away from colors. I welcome and embrace them, the bolder and brighter the better.  This was one of the first hot and sunny days we've had in Chicago and I thought why not match the day with some hot and bright colors. I love how the neon pink of the dress pairs with the neon yellow of the belt. I've found that this belt, though a statement on it's own, really brings out the color of any item it's paired with (see it worn here as well), who knew a neon yellow belt could be so versatile ;)

I hope y'all enjoy the rest of your week, I'm going to try and get another post up, but I can't promise anything, finals + moving = craziness. But once everything calms down I have tons of post ideas just waiting to make an appearance on here :)

Thanks so much for reading!

Rock This!: Garden Party Pants

Happy Friday everyone! Can y'all guess what Spring trend I am all about this year? If you thought printed pants, specifically floral printed pants, then you'd be right! I've been all about the floral pant trend and I'm constantly stalking the internet for a fresh pair of pants. I'm pretty sure by the end of the summer I'll have a collection of them, they're all I want and all I need! Haha! Therefore, as I'm sure you guessed, for this edition of Rock This! I'm bringing you my five favorite floral printed pants right now and showing you how you can style these pretty trousers for both the day and night!

Garden Party
I love how versatile these pants actually are, floral pants are no longer considered only for sweet, little grandmas or kids under the age of 5. You can wear them just as any other pant, dress them up, dress them down, mix prints, keep it classic, the possibilities are really endless! And now that your vision is full of roses + tulips + daisies (oh my!), here are some examples on how you can style these printed frocks.

Day Time Florals

This is the perfect casual chic outfit! A slouchy sweater, with ladylike trousers, and a pair of killer pumps ( in a poppy color of course) is great for a casual work day or lunch meeting.
Night Time florals

I love this for a night out with friends, floral pants aren't the first thing you think of to wear when going out, but that's what I love about this look, its so unexpected! All eyes will be on you for your effortless combination of sass and class ;)

Do any of you own floral pants/ plan to purchase a pair? If so how do you/will you style them? Let me know in the comments! :)

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend as well, any exciting plans?

Outfitted: Printed Tunic + Melissas

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going swell ;) Does anyone remember when jelly shoes were all the rage, specifically when we were little? I definitely remember having several different pairs (my shoe addiction started when I was young, haha!) of jelly sandals in different colors with all sorts of bedazzlements, they were the ultimate summer shoe for the kids.

Well, last week I made a little purchase that took me back to those younger days and bought a pair of Melissa's. For those of you who don't know, Melissa's are like jellies for adults, they're made of 100% recyclable plastic, come in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes (including men's shoes!), and have an amazingly sweet bubblegum scent.

I first heard about the brand through a friend who owned a pair of their ballerina flats, and, ironically enough, it was with that same friend that I purchased my first pair. These flats literally had just been delivered to the Akira shoe store in Wicker Park and the manger brought them out mere seconds before I was about to purchase a pair of metallic boat shoes (which I'm still considering going back to get, hehe). I ended up switching to these beauties and I'm so glad I did! I haven't really had the chance to rock them since the weather here in Chicago hasn't been very 'jelly shoe appropriate', but I'm excited to see what kind of outfits I'll pair them with as they're the perfect pop of color for summer :)

Do any of you own Melisssa's? If so, what's your favorite way to style them?

Side note: Please ignore the little spec of something that was apparently on my lens as I was taking these shots, I didn't notice it till after I started editing the photos. Second, that little brown patch on the ground by my feet...don't be alarmed, it's only moss ;)

Outfitted: Chambray + A Ballerina Skirt

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday, the week is half way over! Haha! I bought this skirt last year from H&M, which surprises a lot of people as they always think its from American Apparel, its kind of a modern take on a ballerina skirt and I absolutely love the movement it has! So much so that I can't help but to flick and twirl it as I walk. I need more skirts like this in my closet, I just adore the feminine touch it adds to an outfit.

Also, have you all noticed my obsession with chambray tops? I'm pretty sure I've incorporated them one way or another in several previous outfit posts. They're just so versatile! I'm constantly on the lookout for them at work or during shopping excursions. They've became the new version of a denim jacket for me and (as seen in many of my outfit photos) are the perfect item for layering. Just throw it over another top and cinch at the waist, layer it under a crop top, or wear it as is! In my eyes, you really can't go wrong with chambray :)

How do you all wear chambray? I'd love to get more style ideas! Let me know in the comments :) Thanks for reading!

Outfitted: Sequins + Chucks

Hi Everyone! So today is a very special day as it's....My Birthday! Yayyyy :) I wanted to do a quick post to show my bday ensemble for the day. I feel this outfit really expresses who I am as a person - a little bit of glitz & glam, a little sporty, with a mix of casual cool chicness.

Turning the big 2-5!

I got the sequined skirt about a month or so ago from Crossroads (surprise, surprise! haha!) and have been waiting for an opportunity to wear it, and I figured why not add some sparkle to my day :) I've been wearing my chucks a lot these past couple days, they're super beat up, but I really like the quirkiness they give to the outfit. I've also been killing this H&M anorak (most recently seen here), and honestly it'll probably make its way out again tomorrow for St. Patty's :) Speaking of, do you have any plans for the weekend? I'll be having a green beer or two (or ten...) as some friends and I are partaking in a St. Patty's day pub crawl, should be a jolly green good time, haha!

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you all enjoy the holiday this weekend, have fun and stay safe!

Outfitted: Pink Blazer + Hot Red Pants

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a splendid Valentine's Day and spent it with people you love and care for :) I must say I had a pretty successful day myself. Work was very relaxed and then DCT and I had a fabulous dinner at this quaint Mexican restaurant, where I had my fair share of their vanilla-bean and pineapple infused tequila drink, I was feeling fantastic by the end of the night, haha!

I wanted to share with you all what I wore for the holiday, usually I'm never this festive when it comes to Valentine's Day, but for some reason this year I felt like going all out. Since DCT and I had dinner reservations right after I got off from work I wanted something that could easily transfer from day-wear to night-wear, hence the pink blazer!

As I said, normally the most festive I get for Valentine's Day is red/pink nail polish, but I suppose I woke up on the right side of the bed yesterday morning :) I really like how the different shades of reds and pinks complement each other and I can definitely see myself repeating this outfit, Valentine's day or not ;)

For the date that night I slipped into this fun little romper, kept the blazer, added some heels, and I was good to go! The blazer and romper kept the outfit more casual, while the addition of the heels dressed it up enough for a V-day date night!

What did you all do for Valentine's Day? Thanks for reading!
