How to Style :: Winter Brights

I've been feeling a tad under-the-weather these past few days, I think it's more allergies than actual sickness, but nonetheless it's annoying and has resulted in me being mopey and helpless around the house. It has also effected my outfit choices - blacks and greys and muted browns have been my go-tos, no one wants to pair neon pink with a stuffy nose and water eyes (a handful of tissues are my new 'it' accessory).

February, though the shortest, tends to be the toughest month every winter, you're officially off the high of the holidays, it's bitter cold and brings us most of the snow for the entire winter season, and your ultimate goal is to merely survive till the 28th. Who has time to think up fun, colorful outfits when it's 7 degrees outside, am I right? Well, today I want to help you (and me!) with some inspiration on how to easily add color to your winter wardrobe. Enjoy the collages below and I hope it encourages you to throw on that neon pink, I know it did for me :)

Outfitted: Brights on Brights on Brights

::Outfit:: Dress - Rachel Rachel Roy / Chambray - Zara / Crochet Oxfords - Wanted / Bag - Random store / Accessories - Michael Michael Kors watch & rings, random bangles, sunnies via Crossroads

Hi everyone! Did you miss me? Haha ;) I'm almost in the clear with school, Saturday is officially the last day and I have one more project to finish up then it is totally summer party mode!

In addition to that, DCT and I finally found an apartment which we're super excited about, it's in a new neighborhood, it'll literally take me two minutes to walk to work, and it's close to great friends :) I'm super pumped! We even get to move in early, which is great as we get to bypass all the June 1st move-in madness, but that also means we have to get our stuff together ASAP, which should be fun seeing as we both have a lot of stuff (me probably more so than DCT...).

But on to other things, such as this outfit! If you've been following my blog for some time now you'll know I'm not one to shy away from colors. I welcome and embrace them, the bolder and brighter the better.  This was one of the first hot and sunny days we've had in Chicago and I thought why not match the day with some hot and bright colors. I love how the neon pink of the dress pairs with the neon yellow of the belt. I've found that this belt, though a statement on it's own, really brings out the color of any item it's paired with (see it worn here as well), who knew a neon yellow belt could be so versatile ;)

I hope y'all enjoy the rest of your week, I'm going to try and get another post up, but I can't promise anything, finals + moving = craziness. But once everything calms down I have tons of post ideas just waiting to make an appearance on here :)

Thanks so much for reading!

In Living Color: Tangerine Tango!

Hi everyone! Today I want to introduce a new post series that I'll *hopefully* be posting about every couple weeks or so :) In this series I'm going to take a color that I've either been seriously crushing on/buying a lot of or that is all the rage in the fashion world (I'm looking at you mint green, haha!), and show you how you can easily incorporate it into your wardrobe! To kick things off I figured there was no better color than Pantone's 2012 Color of the Year - Tangerine Tango.

Tangerine Tango

Tangerine Tango is a spirited, reddish orange that is described by the executive director of Pantone, Leatrice Elseman, as "marrying the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow...a magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy".

So how do you style this exotic, fiery hue?

Neutral Beauty
When in doubt with what to wear with such a bold color always go for neutral, classic pieces to create a casual chic look. This way you stand out, but still look pulled together. If you want to be a little more bold try mixing in a print or different textures in your accessories. I think these leopard loafers add just the right amount of sass for a casual day at the office or weekend brunch.

You know they say opposites attract, and as the saying goes bright, bold hues like Tangerine Tango and light, airy pastels are very attractive! The lilac purple complements the bright orange perfectly. This would be a wonderful springtime outfit for Easter Sunday, an afternoon wedding, or a classy backyard barbecue.

Bright + Bold

Sometimes you just have to go for it! The key to wearing this many bright colors is to keep everything else about the garments simple. Any extra frills and it might come off as being too much. The same goes for your accessories, as before when wearing bright colors, neutrals are your best friend. :)

And there you have it! So what do you think lovely readers? Will you be adding some Tangerine Tango to your wardrobe?

Thanks for reading!
