How to Style :: Winter Brights

I've been feeling a tad under-the-weather these past few days, I think it's more allergies than actual sickness, but nonetheless it's annoying and has resulted in me being mopey and helpless around the house. It has also effected my outfit choices - blacks and greys and muted browns have been my go-tos, no one wants to pair neon pink with a stuffy nose and water eyes (a handful of tissues are my new 'it' accessory).

February, though the shortest, tends to be the toughest month every winter, you're officially off the high of the holidays, it's bitter cold and brings us most of the snow for the entire winter season, and your ultimate goal is to merely survive till the 28th. Who has time to think up fun, colorful outfits when it's 7 degrees outside, am I right? Well, today I want to help you (and me!) with some inspiration on how to easily add color to your winter wardrobe. Enjoy the collages below and I hope it encourages you to throw on that neon pink, I know it did for me :)

Five Ways to Jazz up your Natural Hair for Summer!

Summer is here and that means its time to not only update your wardrobe but to also update your natural 'do! Now there's no need to run out and get a new color or cut because I'm bringing you five ways to jazz up your natural hair with fun and sassy accessories for the summer!

1. Turbans

We all know I have a not-so-secret love for the ever-thriving turban trend. They're the perfect, stylish solution for a lazy hair day and look fabulous on top of locks, twists, fros, you name it!

Not sure how to go about tying your turban? Check out a few links to my favorite how-to videos below!

2. Scarves

I believe scarves are the best hair accessory for natural hair as they're just so versatile! Tie it into a head wrap/band, create an over-sized bow, use it to make your own turban, the possibilities are truly endless :) In addition there is such a variety of colors and prints you're guaranteed to find one that expresses your individual style.

And for a little bit more inspiration here are a couple of videos showing different ways to tie a scarf!

3. Hats

Some naturals may shy away from hats, but it shouldn't be considered an impossibility! While they do tend to work better with shorter hair(as the hat will actually sit on your head) don't think just because you have a fabulously, fluffy fro that you can't rock a summer hat. Use bobby pins or attach a hair comb to the inside to help pin the hat to your curls. No more fearing those windy days!

4. Over-sized Flowers

What says summer more than bright, bold, beautiful flowers in your hair? Pluck them fresh from a bouquet or stock up on various pins & clips. They're so inexpensive and add a feminine & flirty touch to any 'do!

5. Statement Jewelry

There's nothing better than some statement jewelry to set off your natural look! Whether it's door-knocker earrings, over-sized hoops, or bejeweled studs, this accessory works for all hair lengths!

And there you have it! :) Do you do anything special to dress up your hair that wasn't included in my list? Let me know in the comments! Happy Friday and enjoy the weekend!

Rock This!: Baseball Caps

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I've actually been feeling a bit under the weather (probably because of all this crazy weather) and have been trying to get some rest, if there is anything I absolutely hate being, its being sick :P

But nonetheless, the show must go on! Today, I'm bringing you an edition of "Rock This" featuring the hot new fashion accessory...the baseball cap! This actually came about from talking with a good friend of mine, Michelle, who recently bought a Chicago baseball cap (which is super cool, btw, check it out here) and wanted to figure out different ways to style it that wasn't your basic t-shirt + jeans look. I decided to take up the challenge and created 3 different ways that she (and you!) can style this new must-have accessory.

I think this first look would be perfect for Michelle as she has that edgy + cool sense of style that I love. You definitely need a certain amount of swag to complete this look. I can totally see someone pounding the streets of New York (or Paris, *winkwink*nudgenudge* Michelle) in this.

This one is definitely my favorite as it's so relaxed and easy to wear. This would be perfect for a casual weekend with friends spent shopping, eating out, or hey even attending an actual baseball game ;)

Last but not least, an unexpected pairing. I love how both the loafers and baseball cap bring a casual element to a flirty skater dress. Wear this when running errands to stay cute + casual while on-the-go.

I think the key to making a baseball cap more fashion-forward than frumpy-dumpy is to choose hats that are in neutral colors so that they'll pair with practically anything and also make sure there is minimal to no branding on the front. That way you can throw it on as you would any other accessory for a boyishly-cool, laid-back fashionista vibe.

What say you, readers? Have you or will you try accessorizing with a baseball cap? Would love to hear how you all would wear it! :) Thanks for reading!
