Sunday Obsessions: Tropical Vacay Essentials

Hi Everyone! I hope your weekend has been swell! Can you believe February is just about finished? I'm a March baby and I'm shocked how fast my birthday is steadily approaching (turning the big 2-5, ahhhh!). This following weekend, however, couldn't come fast enough as DCT and I are going on a little tropical vacay down to Florida. Though it's only a weekend trip, I'm looking forward to escaping the chill and laying poolside for a couple of days, it's supposed to be in the 80s all weekend long and I can not wait.

That said, for this edition of Sunday Obsessions I've put together a few essentials for a tropical get-away. Just imagine yourself on a beach with these goodies, the sun shining, plus a mojito in hand ;)

Tropical Vacay Essentials

1. The statement alone makes it a must have get-away bag - Kate Spade "Play Hooky" Terry
2. Light & airy beach coverups - Talbots Beaded Tunic Coverup / Calypso St. Barth Marlene Floral Linen Shirt
3. Ultra-glam ways to keep the sun out of your eyes - House of Harlow 1960 'Chelsea' Cat Eye / J.Crew Straw Hat
4. Must have maxis in statement-making colors - Oasis Sheer Belted Maxi / TopShop Jersey Scoop Maxi
5. Silk scarf for cool tropical nights - Diane Von Furstenberg Washed Chiffon Printed Scarf
6. Strappy sandals and comfy, fun, slip-ons - ASOS Leon Slipper Shoe with Tropical Print / Tory Burch Bridee Wedge Espadrille (more colors here) / Aldo Leflar (on clearance!)
7. Can't forget your swimwear! - Lepel Sunrise Bandeau Swimsuit / Melissa Odabash Martinique Twisted Bandeau Bikini / Old Navy Striped Keyhole Swimsuit
8. Flower power shorts - Aeropostale Tropical Twill Shorts (on sale!)
9. Fun arm candy - TopShop Spring Cuff / ASOS ZigZag Gummy Bracelets
10. Printed dress made for late nights in the tropics - Matthew Williamson Tropical Print Dress
11. Don't forget to treat your fingers and toes! - Essie Mint Candy Apple

Do you all have any end of winter (hopefully!) vacation plans? What are some of your get-away essentials?

Sunday Obsessions: Jason Wu for Target

By now most of you have probably heard about the next Target Designer Collaboration is with Jason Wu. That's right the same designer who designed Michelle Obama's inauguration dress is bringing clothing and accessories to a Target near you at super reasonable prices :)

Last week there was a sampling of photos of the collection leaked on the internet and finally this past Tuesday a full lookbook of the collection was released. Let me tell you, this is one of the first designer collaborations that I'm actually really excited about and seriously considering making a few purchases (I mean with everything under $60, how can I not?). I'm just hoping that there won't be a fiasco similar to the release of the Missoni Collection for Target. As you'll see in pictures below, all the pieces are extremely wearable, can fit into anyone's wardrobe, and are classic styles that will last season after season. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the collection that I will definitely be heading to Target to check out in person...

Dress $34.99, Tote $39.99

Blouse $34.99, Lace Print Skirt $29.99, Clutch $29.99

Top $26.99, Skirt $29.99

Tee $19.99, Shorts $26.99

Sweater $32.99

Clutch $29.99

Cat Scarf $19.99

Check out the full collection at The Fashion Bomb, the collection will be available online and in stores on February 5th, will you be buying anything?

Sunday Obsessions: Graphic Knits + Desert Boots

Hi There!

I want to apologize for the lack of posts this past week, I've been moving in with DCT and didn't really have the time to do posts between packing, work, cleaning, moving, and unpacking. There are still a few more things I need to do, but I'm slowly getting settled in to the new place and with that said, this week will also probably be a little low on posts, but I'll do my best :]

I don't think I mentioned it on here, but I started a new job recently as well :] It's as a sales/buyer for a recycled fashion retail store and I am loving it! Not only are the people I work with great, but I'm around clothes and shoes from top retailers (H&M, Zara, Anthropologie, J.Crew, etc.) and designers (Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch, Dolce & Gabbana, etc.) all sold at discounted prices! Needless to say this has incited the shopaholic in me as we're constantly getting new items in the store everyday.

So, to get back in the swing of things, here's a little post of items I'm currently keeping an eye out for. I have a sneaky feeling that within a couple months of working here I may have to start expanding into DCT's closet space, which I'm sure he won't mind ;] haha! Enjoy!

Graphic Knits:

Knitted Chevron Jumper, Topshop / Warehouse Navajo Cardigan, ASOS

BDG Bird's Eye Striped Sweater, Urban Outfitters / Rag & Bone 'Fulton' Colorblock Sweater, Nordstorm

Loafers:

Deanz Patent Leather Round Toe Flat, Urbanog / Deanz Linen Round Toe Flat, Urbanog

Earnie Leather Blush Loafer, Miss Selfridge / Elope Leather Tassel Loafer, Miss Selfridge

Desert Boots:

ASOS Abe Suede Lace Desert Ankle Boot, ASOS / Canvas Sandstorm Boot, Madewell

DV by Dolce Vita 'Bobbie' Bootie, Nordstorm / Aruba2 Natural Suede Boot, TopShop

Midi Skirts:

ASOS Neon Lace Midi Skirt, ASOS / Jade Pleated Mid Length Skirt, Miss Selfridge

ASOS Midi Tailored Belted Ponti Fit and Flare Skirt, ASOS / ASOS Irregular Stripe Midi Skirt, ASOS

Is there anything you're currently on the hunt for?

Have a Happy Monday!

Sunday Obsessions: Tribal Beat

So the other day I lost my turquoise cocktail ring that you've seen in many of my pictures. I really liked that ring and I had just bought it too, so I'm really annoyed with myself, I'm notorious for losing jewelry especially pieces I really like. As it stands the random pieces of jewelry I do own are all jumbled together and half of them I don't even wear so I'm thinking a spring cleaning of my jewelry box is in order as well as some purchasing of pieces that I will actually wear (and hopefully not lose!).

Right now I'm really into jewelry that have a tribal, native, afro-centric look to them. Blame it on the fro, it makes me think I'm some African warrior princess living in the Nigerian rainforests....yeah, I just went there ;] Putting my slightly demented fantasies aside, I decided to search Etsy for some tribal-esque jewels. I've never really shopped shopped Etsy before, just kinda glanced through from time to time, but they have tons of really unique, one-of-a-kind items and I figure why not give some support? Check out some of my finds below...

Vision Studs, peaceimagesjewelry, $30

White Buffalo, Prairie Oats, $34

The ZigZag Bracelet, Nomoi Koru, $24 / Flight, Prairie Oats, $24

Goddess Statement Feather Earring, kellnoelle, $35

Little Africa, peaceimagesjewelry, $23

Nettle Bangles, peaceimagesjewelry, $37 / Gold Filigree & Champagne Feather Necklace, kellnoelle, $55

Shawnee, Prairie Oats, $84

Light & Truth Bracelet, nomoi koru, $22

Black Bird Bangle, nomoi koru, $36

As per usual I can't decide what I want, but I'll more than likely be purchasing one (or two!) from these shops, as always I'll keep you posted on my decision!
