How to Style :: Print Mixology 101

Print Mixology 101

Hi all! Welcome to the best (and, dare I say, most fashionable) class you'll ever take - Print Mixology 101! If you recall last week I put together an outfit that had a crazy mash up of prints. I gave you a couple of tips for creating your own print mash up, but I figured why not also show you a few examples for mixing and matching your prints. So if you're ready, let's get started!

Print Mixology 101 :: Stripes

If you didn't know, stripes and polka dots are the best of friends! There was never a stripe that a polka dot didn't like ;] They're one of the easiest and fun print pairings you can make. Add a little leopard into the mix and you've got yourself a party, as leopard gets along with everyone, seriously. :]

Outfitted: Ditsy Florals + Pink Suede Boots

Hey everyone! I'm baaaaack!

"Back to life...back to reality..." - theme song for my upcoming week because DCT and I are officially back in Chicago and back to the daily grind. We miss Europe terribly and are already planning our next Euro-adventure which will include a longer visit and more mini-trips within our trip.

I'll definitely be updating y'all with pictures of our travels but I figured we should start the week right and get back into the flow of things with a good ol' outfit post :) There are so many things I love about the European culture and lifestyle, and it never ceases to amaze me how inspired I get by diving headfirst into it all. It was even better this time as it was DCT's first visit to Europe and so I was able to get a new perspective on what I'd seen before, which is always very enlightening.

Nothing crazy special about this outfit, except for my booties that I bought while in Amsterdam. I wore them to death through the end of our trip and will continue to wear them throughout the Fall, I heart them :)

Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend, thanks for reading!

Happy Monday!

Outfitted: Florals & Stripes

Hi everyone! This post is going to be short and sweet, kind of like this outfit :)

Who doesn't love florals and stripes, especially when paired together? These are always my go-to prints to mix whenever I'm in a sassy mood. Florals and stripes make me happy, how can you have a bad day when you're outfit is so cheerful? Also, I love that the top is just sheer enough that the stripes from my skirt seem to blend with the floral print, kind of a cool effect, no?

So I'm super excited for this weekend as my mama and baby brother are coming to town for a few days! I haven't seen either of them in a little over a year as they live in Germany and I can't really just jet set over there for a weekend trip. I'm ready for a few days of family time doing touristy things as I show them around the city, it's going to be loads of fun!

Do you all have anything exciting planned for the weekend? I know Lollapalooza is this weekend, which is always a good time. Whatever your plans are I hope it's the best! Thanks for reading!

'Till Next Time...

Rock This!: Mixing Prints

Hi everyone! So mixing prints is still a major trend in the fashion world and I know there have been many a 'how-to' to come out since the trend first emerged, but I have yet to really put my two cents out there so in honor of my last outfit post today I'll show you how to mix prints for almost any occasion!
Mixing Prints: Stripes & Florals
Two of my favorite prints to mix, stripes and florals! Dress this look up with neutral accessories and a strappy wedge in a summery color, and you're ready for a classy brunch with the girls or a casual lunch meeting.

mixing prints 2
Like most fashionistas I have a not-so-secret love for leopard prints, it can instantly upgrade any outfit. Polka dots are actually a print I don't wear too often, but I love how they're so classic & ladylike. Put the two together and you have the perfect casual Friday or 'running-around-doing-errands-all-day' Sunday outfit.

Mixing Prints: Bold Graphics + Florals
This look is probably my favorite, it is also similar to the one I wore last week. Not only do I love the two prints, but the colors are so vibrant I can't help but be happy whenever I look at it, think if you were actually wearing it how awesome you would feel, haha! :) Wear this to a dinner date or an afternoon wedding.

And there you have it! How do you all like to mix your prints? Before I go I want to mention that I noticed I had a bit of an increase in my subscribers from various sources (Google, Blog Lovin, Facebook) and I just wanted to say Hi!! *waving at my computer screen* Welcome! Thanks for subscribing, don't be shy, leave a comment and I hope you keep enjoying what you see here :) Happy Wednesday!

'Till Next Time...
