Fashion Find: Nikki Rich

Hi all! Today I want to introduce you to a fashion/lifestyle brand I recently discovered - Nikki Rich. Created by design-duo Nikki Lund and Richie Sambora, this line offers unique pieces including tailored jackets and blazers, silky shirts, knit tops, flattering pants, and drop-dead gorgeous dresses (I'm especially eyeing those maxi's). Using a unique design aesthetic, luxe textiles, and impeccable craftsmanship, it's a chic blend of items that expertly echos the pair's own eclectic personal style. And the best part? It's all at a very affordable price (winning!).

In The Mood For...Capes

In The Mood For...Capes
(1. 1955 Christian Dior Haute Couture Mocha Wool Cape 2. Folk Herringbone Cape 3. Suno Mohair Wool Cape)

Hi everyone! Long time no see! I feel I've totally been off my blogging game, with crazy long work hours, family visits, and just general things that come up in life, I've completely been thrown off my blog schedule. I'll slowly be working my way back into the swing of things, cause I know y'all miss me, right? Haha *wink*.

Well it's that time. I'm officially ready for Fall to be here, I made my first boot purchase of the season the other day as well as invested in a new leather jacket and gosh darn-it I want to wear them now. I know I shouldn't be rushing it, but this summer has been so H-O-T! I'm not saying I want to see snowflakes falling out my window, but a nice comfortable drop in the temperature would be nice.

While I wait for the cooler days ahead, I've started making a mental list of my must-have items for this coming Fall/Winter, and, as you may of guessed, one of those items is a cape! A perfect layering piece, that looks just as chic over a chunky knit, denim, and boots as over a sassy dress and heels. They're a great alternative to a basic pea coat and I have a feeling we'll be seeing them all over this season.

What say you readers? Do you like the idea of a cape? How would you wear one? Let me know, I love hearing your ideas!

Madewell Fall 2012 Lookbook: Shop it Now!

Hi friends!

You know, nothing makes me happier than a fabulously styled lookbook. I find that they can be even more inspiring than seeing clothes on the runway as you get a glimpse of how different pieces can really be styled for day-to-day life. And while I'm in no rush to have Fall come knocking at our doors, I couldn't resist posting a few looks from Madewell's Fall 2012 Lookbook. It was released a few months ago, but for some reason I only just stumbled upon it and it immediately had me thinking of cozy layers, chunky knits, and printed scarves.

Enjoy my favorite looks below and if you really like what you see hop on over to Madewell's site as the collection is now available for pre-order. :]

Getting Kinky: Curly Heads On The Runway

Hi Everyone! So I don't really do posts on Fashion Week runway shows because  I ususally fall behind  and there are sooooo many outlets for runway recaps, I feel I would just get lost in the crowd. However, I was given a little tip from a friend about a show during London Fashion week that he said made him think of me. Of course I had to check it out, and instantly fell head over heels in love with this collection and the lovely curly ladies who modeled it.

Tata Naka, a line designed by twin sisters Tamara and Natasha Surguladze, showcased curly-headed models for their Fall 2012 collection at London Fashion Week. Their design was inspired by "Motown, Malawian tribes and the photography of Seydou Keita and Malick Sedibe". No surprise, I was immediately attracted to the bold colors and prints. I also love how they beautifully combined the silhouettes and groovy styling of Motown with African culture in the prints and beaded jewelry. And let's not forget all the curly fros! As we've seen throughout Fashion Month, color and prints and going to be majah for Fall. Enjoy some photos of the collection below!

Fabulous, yes?

Rock This!: NYFW F/W 2012

New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week by kinksarethenewpink featuring clutch bags

Happy Friday everyone! New York Fashion Week officially started yesterday and while I won't be in attendance (I really just couldn't fit it into my schedule ;) ), I thought it'd be fun to create an outfit I would wear if I did go to NYFW.

I'm assuming at NYFW you're running around a lot, from a show to an event to another show, so I would want my outfit to be comfortable with easy mobility so I can run from place to place without killing myself. You all know I'm a big fan of maxi skirts and I love the rust-orange color of this one, paired with a nice red suede bootie and a chambray top, I feel comfy/casual yet fashionable. Then throw on a cropped fur coat and oversized fedora for extra warmth during those dashes outside to the next show. Add an envelope clutch to carry the necessities (cellphone, notepad, pen, invites, etc.), finish the outfit off with simple accessories and don't forget your camera! And there you have it!

Are any of you in New York for Fashion Week? If so, what are you wearing? If not, what would you wear?
