NYFW Fall 2013 :: What I Learned

Hi all! I thought I'd take a little break from all the outfit posts lately (actually, in reality, I was off yesterday and felt really lazy and therefore spent the entire day in my pajamas :D) and share with you a few things I learned from NYFW for Fall 2013. This is in no way a formal review or professional thoughts on the shows, just things I personally noticed and am looking forward to come this fall. I hope you enjoy!

NYFW Spring 2013 Superlatives!

Hi there! So I totally missed out on all the craziness that is NYFW (and yes it's still crazy even from the comfort of my couch, haha) due to my little vacay, and I know there are reviews a-plenty across the blog-o-sphere, and while I'm no expert this being a fashion blog I had to mention something about NYFW, right? ;)

So I decided to put my own fun twist on the shows and bring you Kinks Are The New Pink first ever NYFW Superlatives! I really enjoyed putting this together so I hope you enjoy reading it. I'll try and do this for all the major Fashion weeks, but I will make no promises that it'll actually happen :) Now without further ado, on to the superlatives!

Outfitted: Rainy Days

I personally believe there is nothing better than a rainy day spent inside laying around the apartment. Just give me a good book/movie, a comfy sweater, a cup of tea and I'm set for the entire day. And that was pretty much my Sunday, which felt great as I haven't had a purely lazy day in a long time and it just made it better that it was raining because it really made me not want to do anything :)

I (obviously) did get around to taking a few shots of my outfit during the brief moment I did leave the house. This is standard rainy day gear for me - cropped pants, flats, and a casual top. Can you believe that I've lived in Chicago for almost 3 years, Charleston for 6 years and I have never invested in a pair of rain boots. It's not that I don't like them, I just never felt the need for them. Which is weird seeing as Charleston gets tons of rain all year long and Chicago's winter is no walk in the park. When I see girls walking around in them I always think, 'I should get rain boots this year', but eventually I forget that thought and end up buying items that are much more practical like 5-inch heeled booties :)

But maybe this year will be the year! I'll keep everyone posted ;) Hope you all had a great weekend, it's going to be a busy busy week but then it'll be Europe time! And with that I'll leave you with this little gem to start your week off right :)

HAPPY MONDAY!

Outfitted: Romp.

Hi everyone! It's still been blazingly hot here in the Chi, I step outside and immediately feel as if I need to shower yet again, even at night the heat is just ridiculous. It's quite uncomfortable, which is why I've been leaning towards outfits that are simple and light.

Case and point, today's outfit! An easy cotton romper from Rag & Bone (a recent Crossroads score!), casually layered with a denim vest and topped off with boyishly cute loafers. I was all set to battle the heat and yet still felt stylish while doing so :)

Some people aren't fans of rompers, but I personally have been on the hunt for a nice summertime version for a while now, so I was super happy to come across this one. The color is a perfect nude and I'll totally be able to wear it throughout the rest of the summer and maybe even layer it up with tights, boots, and a chunky knit for Fall. I love it when pieces are versatile :)
