We're Moving!

Guess what KATNP readers?

Remember when I said I was in the process of creating a new domain for KATNP, whelp the time has come and all of us are going to be making the big move over to the big, slightly scary, and very intimidating world of Wordpress.

It's something I've been wanting to do for a while but life got in the way of redesigning the site essentially from scratch. However, LuckyFABB ignited a new fire in me to make the move and after several weeks and lots of frustrations in trying to teach myself code, I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to share my new space with you all!

I'd say we'll be making the officially leap by next week after DCT does some last minute technical tweaking - some fashion bloggers have photography boyfriends, I have the IT boyfriend who has been a great help during this process.

With the move I will lose my connection with Google Friend Connect which syncs into Google Reader, but if you haven't heard, Google will be shutting down their reader come July 1, 2013. So if you use Google Reader to follow KATNP and any other blog I would highly suggest finding a new reader app before it shuts down so as not to lose any blogs you subscribe to.

I personally suggest BlogLovin', I've been using it almost since it first came out, it's very user-friendly and you can easily import your Google Reader subscriptions. If you want to try something else a simple Google search will bring up various other reader apps.

I think that's about it, I'll keep you guys updated as we get closer to our moving date! Get excited! :)

Outfitted :: Casually Camouflaged

Thrifted beanie / H&M blazer + white tee / Free People camo pants (now on sale for $30!) / JustFab wedges / Rebecca Minkoff crossbody / Michael Kors watch / Skull bracelet c/o Jami / Crossroads necklace

Hi everyone! Spring has officially sprung in Chicago and I couldn't be more excited, today is supposed to make it's way up to 70 degrees so you'll find me working in my warm weather office space a.k.a. my front deck, with a little spring dress on, I've been waiting for this moment! Haha!

I wanted to give you all a full look at what I wore to meet Ms. Rebecca Minkoff last week. I was going for a more tomboy-chic look with a sharp blazer, relaxed camo pants, a fun pair of heels to dress it all up, and of course my Minkoff bag ;)

I wore these shoes for the first time during LuckyFABB and have been dying to bust them out here in Chicago. With the weather finally turning for the better, these will be in constant rotation as they're comfortable enough to be worn casually and yet can easily dress up any look for a night out.

*Style Tip: When shopping for heels that can be worn casually during the day and transition easily to night try to stay within a 3-4 inch heel height. Going over 4 inches to 5 or even 6 inches (ahh!) makes for a great party shoe, but isn't all that practical for daytime, and anything under 3 inches tends to be a little more conservative and office wear appropriate. I personally tend to gravitate towards wedges, especially during the summer, to dress up a day time look as they're a little more casual than pumps and usually comfier :)

Happy Monday y'all! Thanks for reading!

Event Recap :: Meeting Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff Nordstrom Chicago

Hi everyone! This past Wednesday I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite designers - Rebecca Minkoff! She came to Chicago for a personal appearance at Nordstrom where they showcased her spring collection, offered light appetizers and refreshments, and had a meet & greet with Ms. Minkoff, herself!

I've always loved her designs for their tomboyish-chic appeal and how easy they seem to wear. They're the perfect balance of femininity - with floral prints and pretty dresses, and toughness with leather jackets and sharp cut blazers. It's hard not to want every single piece, I would be perfectly happy if I could only wear her designs for the rest of my life, haha!

And don't get me started on her bags! The Mini-M.A.C.'s are obviously a classic, and I almost purchased one during the event, but unfortunately being a responsible adult, paying bills have to come before purchasing designer bags :(

However come next paycheck, all bets are off :D

Completely obsessed with her laser cut handbags, especially this cerulean Skylar crossbody.

I thankfully arrived on the early side so I didn't have to wait too long in line to grab a quick photo and have her sign the inside of my Rumor crossbody, which she informed me they were going to be bringing back!

Closet Essentials :: The White T-Shirt

Hi all! Happy Hump Day, hope your week has been going fabulously so far :) I've been a little m.i.a. as I've been working on a lot of home improvement projects both physically in our apartment and virtually for KATNP's new domain - more on that later!

Today though, I want to talk to you all about my new favorite, everyday basic - the white t-shirt. I've never been big into t-shirts, for me they were strictly for workouts, sleeping, or dreaded sick days. However, recently they've become a more everyday staple and not in a "i'm too lazy to figure out what to wear today" kind of way! I'm dreaming of the easy ways I can style them for summer. Pair them with shorts, skirts, jeans, even dresses, make them casual or dress them up for the night, the options are endless!

T-shirts are definitely an item you don't have to invest in, you can find really basic, inexpensive ones at department stores or even my heaven on earth - Target. However, I will admit, a quality white t-shirt can really make your wardrobe.

I did some online perusing and pulled some of my favorite tees from brands that make fantastic basics, which you can check out below. Also take a look at a couple outfits I styled with my new favorite closet item, one for a fancy occasion and another for a casual weekend play date, enjoy!

DIY :: Wear a Skirt as a Dress

Happy Friday everyone! Today I'm bringing you the easiest DIY ever - how to rock your skirt as a dress! You saw me do this quite a bit during my 30x30 challenge. There are no scissors, glue, or crafty skills required, just a skirt and your own sense of style :)

Follow these 3 simple steps and you'll be on your way to seeing just how versatile your skirt collection can be...

Step 1. Grab a maxi or mid-length skirt (preferably one with an elastic waist band)

Step 2. Pull it on and up!

Step 3. Style as you please! This look usually works best with a belt to cinch the waist, under cropped jackets, blazers or a front-tie shirt :)
H&M Skirt (as dress) / Forever 21 denim jacket / AllSaints ankle boots / Tiara Love bauble necklace

Anthropologie maxi skirt (as dress) / Free People blouse / JustFab 'Akita' wedges

Vintage maxi skirt (as dress) / Truth & Pride leather jacket / ShoeMint 'Rae' pump / Belt borrowed from DCT

And there you have it, easy as one, two, three ;)

Shop This :: White Shoes for Spring

white shoes

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Hi all! Who's in the mood for some serious shoe talk? I know, I know, when are you not in the mood to talk shoes ;) Well I have to confess, I've been on a shoe buying rampage craze. I'm pretty sure last week I bought 4 pairs of shoes within 48 hours....yeah, I have a problem, but in my defense this is what happens when I can't buy anything for a month and a half, I become a shopping monster.

Anyways :) a style of footwear I've been especially lusting over are white shoes. From flats to sneakers, sandals to pumps there is something about white shoes that makes even the most casual outfit so crisp and clean. Pair heels with relaxed boyfriend jeans, sneakers with a spring dress, or sandals with cut off shorts for a great update to classic spring/summer time looks.

Check out some of my favorites below and let me know what you think, white shoes hot or not?

Event Recap :: Lucky Fabb, Day 2

Hi everybody! And we're back with a full recap of Lucky Fabb Day 2! This day was filled with smaller breakout sessions, a handful of brand experiences, and opportunities to network with all those fabulous bloggers!

Here is a quick look at what I wore for the second day. I was going for a classic California-bohemian look with a white eyelet AllSaints dress, JustFab cut out wedges, a denim jacket, and chunky jewelry (check out more awesome styling from Lucky Fabb on their Who Was Best Dressed page)

I started the day off with a private breakfast hosted by Miss Me Jeans where Vanessa Flaherty, VP of Brand Development from DBA discussed points of differentiation you can apply to your blog. She touched on similar points that were expressed the day before during panel discussions including developing a unique voice and artistry, becoming an expert in you niche, being truthful, and evolving by changing things up and going to the next level.

It was a great refresher of all we learned the previous day and a wonderful start to the topics covered in the various breakout sessions. The breakfast was also an opportunity for me to meet some more bloggers I hadn't the day before including Ana from Scorching Style, Veronica from CidStyleFile, Carlina from Allergic to Vanilla, Romy from Romy Raves, and Madeline from Style Me Thrifty (be sure to check out their blogs, they're all fantastic!)

The breakout sessions included everything from how to pitch and new ways to monetize to styling resources and beauty tips. My favorite session by far was Grow Your Traffic with VP of Marketing for TheFind, Dave Cook and Raman Kia, Executive Director of Integrated Strategy for Conde Nast Media. Both were excellent speakers, we had a really great SEO chat and I definitely left learning some new SEO tactics.

In between breakout sessions there were brand experiences hosted by various sponsors of the conference including JustFab, LeSportsac, AG Jeans, L'Occitane, Style Network, and Tacori.

Following all the breakout sessions was cocktail time (my favorite time of the day) hosted by ModCloth, where we all got to mix and mingle one last time before saying goodbye and grabbing our ridiculously massive gift bags.

I have to confess it was hard to say goodbye even after only two days, it was such a supportive and inspiring environment I didn't want to leave, haha! But I'm ready to apply what I learned to Kinks are the New Pink, I have a feeling there are some exciting opportunities that may come our way and definitely some changes that are going to be made within the month, so stay tuned!

Thanks so much reading! Happy Monday!
