Getting Kinky: Black Girl Long Hair Natural Hair Meetup

So this past weekend was filled with all sorts of activities, but the most notable event was Sunday's Black Girl Long Hair Natural Hair Meetup. I'd gone to one of their meet-ups before back in May, but that in no way prepared me for what went down this time around. Doors were opening at 1pm, I got there at approximately 1:05 and to my utter astonishment, there was a line out the door, around the corner, and two blocks down all full of natural haired sistahs. I was expecting it be a little more packed than the first one I went to because the founders, Miko & Titi Branch, of Miss Jessie's were doing a hair show (and free gift bags/products were being given away, and who doesn't like free gifts??). But I still wasn't expecting this big of a turn out, people literally came out from all over. Just to give you an idea, I got in line around 1:10p, I didn't make it inside until close to 2 (and it was so hot & humid outside I was sweating buckets!), I left around 3:30/4 and there was STILL a line down the block. Totally insane.

Crazy lines and possible heat stroke aside, I had a really great time! They had lots of new vendors (and I made a few purchases, see below!) and I got to check out parts of the Miss Jessie's hair show including seeing Miko & Titi! If you don't know, Miss Jessie's is a very popular natural hair product company and salon (in NYC) know for their world famous Curly Pudding styling product. Visit their website - Miss Jessie's - to browse their products. I personally haven't used any of them yet, but I got a few samples at the meet-up so stay tuned for reviews on those.

Miko & Titi from Miss Jessie's, isn't their hair fabulous? I'm especially envious of Titi's, it's blonde, fluffy, and just gorgeous.

And this wonderful oversized printed clutch I got from Madam Theresa Obeng Sam designer of Pretty Afrika. She's a sweet, little old lady who uses African printed fabric to design handbags, headbands, and more. You can shop her store on Etsy as well - Pretty Afrika
