Outfitted: Bellbottoms + Denim Vest

Hey there guys and gals! Is it just me or has this week been dragging? March doesn't seem to want to end, though I shouldn't be complaining because things are going to get a little crazier around here once April hits. DCT and I are officially moving out of Lincoln Park, to where is still being determined, but we're ready to try a new Chicago neighborhood. I always get a thrill out of the thought of moving and hunting for a new place (probably the military brat in me, haha!), I find it exciting to envision what it'd be like to live in different places and how I would make it my own.

All that I've just mentioned has absolutely nothing to do with this post, haha! I just felt like sharing (sharing is caring after all, right?). For this week's outfit post I was having a little of a 70's style moment, for those of you who don't know I love fashion from the 70's - the colors, the prints, the cool boho chicness, I'm all about it!

Which brings us to one of my favorite finds from Crossroads, my velvet Theory flare (border-line bellbottom) pants.

Though I didn't wear them this way, they're actually high-waisted pants (which is an extra bonus in my book). I spent the day running around doing errands therefore I wanted to keep my look pretty casual, so I threw on a green t-shirt and the denim vest I made myself (see how to here!). Finally to add a little more interest/color/print, I threw on my floral scarf and summer fedora and called it a day. When in doubt, always throw on a few accessories to take a causal outfit from "womp womp" to "oh wow!", Haha! ;)

Thanks so much for reading!

Outfitted: 70's Summertime

So I had a little spark of inspiration last night thanks to my dance class. I take a class called Be Moved once a week and every week we learn a new genre of dance and this week was DISCO! I really took to the disco for some reason, I think it's because I was just meant to live during the 70's (as this blog goes on we'll talk more than a few times about my 70's fashion obsession). I wouldn't say disco specifically inspired this Happy Friday outfit, unfortunately you won't see any crazy sequined, over-sized bellbottom jumpsuit although that would be pretty awesome - today you'll just find my slightly modern take on summertime in the 70's. Enjoy!

Shirt - Forever 21 / Shorts - H&M / Sandals - Aldo

Post Update: I meant to post a link to the store where you can buy the vinyl record earrings, but I had forgotten what it was until this weekend when I saw the designer at the BGLH Natural Hair meetup (more on that later)! So, her name is Ebony Leaks, her store is called Vinyl Expressionz and you can shop her collections here - http://www.vinylexpressionz.com/ - definitely check her out if you're looking for some funky jewelry ;)

To The Streets: Weekend Style Crush

So typically during the week I browse a lot of style/fashion blogs & sites, and I view a lot of street fashion photos that I really like. In order to avoid me posting every single outfit that I find really cute, fun or interesting I decided to do a sort of weekend review where I chose one or two, limiting myself to max three, street style pics that inspire me :] Also, just for fun and because I'm usually thinking how can I get the same look, I'll post a look book below with options for you (and me!). Sound good? Good! :]

Let's get started! So I decided to stick to one outfit this week, this has a 70's vibe to it with the high-wasted denim jeans and you'll come to realize that I am obsessed with 70's fashion. This is a style/fashion blogger that I just recently discovered and from what I've seen so far she's pretty awesome. She has a love for Etsy and posts about great finds including clothing, jewelry, and other accessories all found on Etsy! So be sure to check her blog out - addicted 2 etsy
Now on to the outfit!

There are so many things to love about this outfit! First off the jeans fit her fantastically and I love the light wash and tiny bellbottom flare (so 70's!). Awesome color blocking effect going on with the vibrant yellow of her shirt and the classic red bag. It's simple, 70's, chic and I love it. Lastly, her hair style is awesome, I'm still waiting for mine to grow so I can do fun styles like that.
